Based on the Leica TL system, the new TL2 is characterised by perfected features and optimised technology – taking the innovative camera concept into a new generation with additional innovations and new design aspects.
The TL2 is equipped with a newly developed, 24-megapixel CMOS sensor in APS-C format which, in combination with the also new Maestro II high-performance image processor, delivers outstanding image quality. The processor has also contributed to the increased precision and speed of the autofocus, so that the camera can now focus on subjects in just 165 milliseconds – up to three times faster than the previous model. Another new development is an electronically controlled shutter. This enables silent exposures at shutter speeds of up to 1/40.000s, and increases the camera's continuous shooting rate from a maximum of 7fps to a new limit of 20 frames per second.
The lens portfolio of the Leica TL system currently comprises six lenses. The two fast prime lenses, the Leica Summicron-TL 23mm f/2 Asph and the Summilux-TL 35mm f/1.4 Asph, are classic focal lengths for reportage photography. They are perfectly complemented by the APO-Macro-Elmarit-TL 60mm f/2.8 Asph, best suited for finely detailed close-up photography. Furthermore, three compact Vario-Elmar zoom lenses cover the complete range of focal lengths from 17 to 200 mm.
Thanks to the L bayonet mount shared by Leica’s TL and SL cameras, the TL2 is also fully compatible with SL lenses. In addition, Leica M and R lenses can be attached to the TL2 via the appropriate adaptors.
The Leica TL2 is available in a silver or black finish, whereby the design of both versions has been slightly revised. Practical camera accessories, such as high-quality protectors, colour-coordinated carrying straps and thumb rests, can be ordered from the LFI Shop.
