Firmware Update 2.0 with new features and improvements available to download as of today.
Today Leica Camera introduce the new Firmware Update 2.0 for the Leica Q with a number of new features. Here are some of the most notable improvements:

Separate DNG Mode
With the new Firmware Update 2.0, photographers are now able to shoot separate DNGs, rather than being limited to the usual DNG+JPG combination available so far. The advantage: you save space on your memory card and no longer have to keep deleting JPGs. The dedicated JPG mode as well as the combined DNG+JPG mode have of course been retained.

Triple-Optimised Autofocus
The 1-field autofocus metering range can now be selected in three different sizes: small, medium and large. At the same time, AF motion has been restricted in digital zoom mode for the focal lengths of 35mm and 50mm, in order to avoid focusing on objects outside the zoom range. Face Detection has also been optimised: if no face is detected, AF now automatically reverts to multi-field autofocus mode.

Improved Usability
Simplified navigation enables an even faster workflow than before: a press of the Menu or Play button lets users switch straight to menu control / picture assessment on the LCD screen. Further improvements include the ability to configure the thumb wheel with additional functions, and the option of deactivating the Video button in still mode.
