The Private Lives of the Rich and Famous

December 24, 2017

Leica Gallery Los Angeles currently presents the exhibition ‘Johnny’s Pool’ with photographs by Jean Pigozzi – the show continues until 7 January 2018.
‘Johnny’s Pool’ is a collection of small-sized, vibrant snapshots taken around the poolside of Pigozzi’s family villa on Cap d’Antibes – originally built for Pigozzi’s father by Italian architect Ettore Sottsass in 1953.

The famous ‘blue pool’ has long been frequented by the international art and culture jet-set, including Helmut and June Newton. This exhibition captures the playful glitterati in candid and spontaneous photographs, including images of Mick Jagger, Bono, Liz Taylor and Naomi Campbell.

An extensive portfolio of excerpts from ‘Pool Party’ was featured in LFI 06/2017, accompanied by an interview with Jean Pigozzi.
