Photography in Japan

April 17, 2016

The Japanese Kyotographie Photo Festival returns this year from April 23 to May 22, 2016.
From April 23 to May 22, 2016, the Japanese city of Kyoto will be fully focussing on photography, during the international Kyotografie Photo Festival. In addition to the usual locations such as galleries and museums, the organizers of the event will be presenting photographic works by participating artists in architecturally unusual buildings – both historic and ultra modern.

Emphasizing 'The Circle of Life', the exhibitions in Kyoto this year include works by French photographer Sarah Moon, Japanese photo journalist Kikujiro Fukushima, Finnish photographer Arno Rafael Minkkinen and French experimental photo artist K-NARF. In addition, there will be thematically connected exhibitions such as 'Coming into Fashion', and the Magnum Photos 'EXILE: 1945 to Today by Magnum Photographers' show, which reflects world history from the perspective of photographers belonging to the famous photo agency.
