Stephan Erfurt - On the Road

On the Road: Kehrer Publishing releases Stephan Erfurt’s first monograph.
Stephan Erfurt (born 1958 in Wuppertal, Germany) discovered his love for photography during a stay in Paris. What followed was an exemplary career which took him to Essen, New York, and finally Berlin. Together with two friends, he laid the foundations for the C/O Berlin exhibition space in the early 2000s.

By this time, Erfurt had spent several years working for Germany’s FAZ Magazin, as well as creating photo series for numerous other publications. His first monograph, released by Kehrer Publishing, encompasses a selection of images from this period: On the Road comprises 127 colour and 32 black-and-white images captured predominantly during the twilight hours – resulting in a very particular atmosphere. Suddenly we see cities such as New York, Las Vegas or Berlin in an entirely different light, and find ourselves wondering which is more luminous: nature’s glow or urban electricity?
