In the same year, he won the Eugene Smith Award for his project ‘Water in the Sahel’ – a comprehensive reportage on water management in the Sahel region. Between 1987 and 1993, he created an extensive body of work about refugees around the world; his book ‘Réfugiés’ was published in 1994. In 1997, Vink became a full member of Magnum Photos. However, he eventually resigned and left the agency in June 2017. The photographer, who is a member of MAPS, has lived in Brussels since 2016.
