Joel Meyerowitz

July 1, 2022

From July 1 to 30, 2022, Leica Gallery Warsaw dedicates an exhibition to legendary Leica photographer Joel Meyerowitz.
Joel Meyerowitz is a legend of contemporary photography, and a pioneer of the street photography genre. During the 1960s and 70s, he was also one of the first photographers to utilise colour as an essential element of his visual language.

The exhibition at Leica Gallery Warsaw (3, Mysia St.) focuses on the earlier decades of the photographer’s career. Viewers are able to explore 50 colour and black-and-white images, captured in the crowded streets of New York City and during Meyerowitz's travels across Europe in 1966/67. The showcase also includes the iconic colour photographs taken in the US during the 1970s with which Meyerowitz rose to fame.
