The winners of this year’s Jerwood/Photoworks Awards are Alejandra Carles-Tolra, Sam Laughlin and Lua Ribeira. It was the second edition of the British photography prize, which is open to UK-based participants only. Each winner will receive £ 5,000 (approx. € 5,800) to put towards researching and developing a new project over a one-year period, with access to a production fund of an additional £ 5,000. They will also be supported throughout the process by a panel of mentors.
The resulting works will be exhibited in January of the following year at the Jerwood Space in London. The show will subsequently go on tour to partner venues such as the Impressions Gallery in Bradford and Belfast Exposed in Northern Ireland.
This year’s edition drew more than 350 entries from across the UK. The jury comprised of Celia Davies (Director at Photoworks), Mark Durden (writer and photographer), Anna Fox (photographer), Ori Gersht (photographer) and Sarah Williams (Head of Programme at Jerwood Visual Arts).
