The finalists for this year’s International Photography Awards have been announced. An international jury of leading industry experts selected the most outstanding projects from a pool of over 11,500 entries, submitted by photographers from 110 countries. The two main winners (Photographer of the Year in the professional segment, and Discovery of the Year in the student/amateur segment) will be announced at the Lucie Awards Gala in New York’s Carnegie Hall on October 22, 2019. All shortlisted works will be showcased on site.
Among this year’s finalists are Snezhana von Buedingen (category: Analogue) and Mustafa Hassona (Editorial), both of whom have previously been shortlisted for the Leica Oskar Barnack Awards 2019. Further nominees include David Knox (category: Fine Art) and Evgeny Stetsko (People). In the student/amateur segment, Julia SH was selected as the winner of the Fine Art category for her series ‘Studio Practice’, placing the Swedish-born artist on the shortlist for this year’s Discovery of the Year Award.
