Ukrainian Women Photographers

April 12, 2022

From April 2 to May 1, 2022, Berlin’s Chaussee 36 Gallery presents the charity exhibition ‘Ukrainian Women Photographers Organization – In the Name of Freedom’.
The Chaussee 36 Photo Foundation has collaborated with the Ukrainian Women Photographers Organization to create the group exhibition ‘In the Name of Freedom’. The showcase is conceptualized as a fundraiser, with all proceeds from print sales, drinks and refreshments going to the Berlin-based non-profit ‘Be an Angel’ in support of Ukrainian refugees.

The presented photographs, which are on display from April 2 to May 1, 2022, capture the many facets of a country caught between tradition and modernity. The result is a kaleidoscope of impressions: from young girls of bygone times, glorified grandmothers and yellow-blue dachas, to Soviet buildings, Molotov cocktails and iPhones – to mention but a few. In all their subjectivity, these Ukrainian artists share an intimate, documentary, tragic and surreal vision of a country in flux and now at war.
