ImageSingulières 2016

April 30, 2016

From May 4 to 22, 2016, the imageSingulières Photo Festival is taking place in Sète, southern France.
For the 8th time, activities in the town of Sète revolve completely around photography during the imageSingulières Festival from May 4 to 22. The emphasis of the festival, which has enjoyed increasing numbers of visitors over the last years, lies with documentary photography.

In addition to exhibitions by the likes of Guillaume Herbaut, Cristóbal Olivares, Anders Petersen and Paula López-Droguett, the organizers are also celebrating the 30th anniversary of the renowned VU' Agency, under the artistic direction of Christian Caujolle. For this reason, there will be a group exhibition titled 'Vu d'Espagne', dedicated to representatives of Spanish photography, which has had a decisive impact of the agency's history. This includes works by Cristina García-Rodero, Isabel Muñoz, Chema Madoz, Virxilio Viétiez, Ricard Terré, Juan Manuel Castro Prieto and Alberto García-Alix.

The 'Working Class Heroes' exhibition, on the other hand, reveals the influence of the working classes on the photographic medium to date. It presents photographic approaches to the subject, with works by Flavio Tarquione, Mehdi Ahoudig and Samuel Bollendorf, as well as Kirill Golovchenko. Large-format photo projections every evening, discussion groups, vernissages, artist talks and parties, will round off the programme.
