Large-scale photographs in black and white
Paolo Pellegrin ranks among the most renowned documentary photographers worldwide. Honoured with numerous awards, the Magnum photographer's work is characterised by a strong social and humanistic approach, gravitating towards topics of disaster, war and man-made alterations to the natural environment. His most recent project, titled 'Hafen' (Port), focuses on the industrialisation of Hamburg's port. Once run by a vast workforce of labourers, the city's port is now dominated by high-tech equipment and machinery – resulting in a man-made cityscape which Pellegrin captures in large-format black and white images.
