From 23 July to 6 August, Irina Ruppert will be holding a workshop in Hamburg, titled Staged Portraits – The Painting as Inspiration. The event forms part of the 28th International Summer Academy for Art and Design at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences.

As part of the workshop, photographers will examine works by well-known painters in order to analyse the special characteristics of the portrait genre. These attributes are then implemented in the participants’ own visual orchestrations – using props, costumes and lighting to emphasise specific symbolisms as well as the personality of their subject.

Duration: 2 weeks
Dates: 23 June – 6 August
Costs: € 680 (concessions: € 530)

With the International Summer Academy for Art and Design – established in 1988 under the name of Pentinent – the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences enables artists, designers and accomplished amateurs to further their creative development in intensive workshops run by internationally renowned professionals. The Academy workshops are complemented by a rich programme of additional events, and culminate in a large-scale exhibition.
