Alec Soth

Share:

From September 8, 2017 to January 7, 2018, the Haus der Photographie at the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg is presenting a comprehensive exhibition of works by the Magnum photographer. In Gathered Leaves, four characteristic series by Soth will be shown for the first time in one exhibition: Sleeping by the Mississippi (2004), Niagara (2006), Broken Manual (2010) and Songbook (2014).

Leica photographer Alec Soth (born 1969) is considered one of the most important representatives of American documentary photography. The physical landscapes of his home country, the majestic Mississippi, the cascading Niagara Falls, the wide, open deserts and untouched places, the small towns and city suburbs, all serve to create the structure and setting for his poetic study of life in America.
