The Lumix Festival for Young Photojournalism opens in Hanover on June 15, 2016. For the fifth time, the former Expo 2000 premises will be transformed into an extensive showcase of exhibitions for the duration of the festival, ending on June 19.
1200 young photographers from 85 countries have submitted their works following an open call. The jury, comprising Stefanie Rejzek (art director at the Freelens Association), Lutz Fischmann (Freelens managing director), Prof. Rolf Nobel (Professor for Photography at Hanover University) and Isabel Winarsch (Lumix organisational manager) selected the 60 most outstanding essays and reportages.
Among the exhibiting photographers are Nancy Borowick, Alejandro Cegarra, Maxim Dondyuk, Kiên Hoàng Lê, Dominic Nahr and Jonas Wresch. The Lumix Festival also offers a number of prizes, such as the Freelens Award, the Lumix Multimedia Award and the Lammerhuber Photography Award. In addition, jury member Rolf Nobel will be honoured with the Dr. Erich Salomon Award as part of this year's edition.
On Thursday 19 June, the festival's International Meeting of Universities offers insights into photography schools around the world – LFI will also be represented at the event.
