Right Here, Right Now

April 2, 2018

A showcase of photographs by Maziar Moradi will be on display at the Galerie für Fotografie in Hanover from 12 April to 6 May 2018.
The exhibition Right Here, Right Now opens at the Galerie für Fotografie in Hanover on 11 April, with an evening reception starting at 19.00. The show, which comprises photographs by Maziar Moradi, recipient of the ‘Hannover Shots’ grant 2017/18, will be on display until 6 May 2018.

For the past year, Berlin-based photographer and ‘Hannover Shots’ grant recipient Maziar Moradi repeatedly sought out people from different cultural backgrounds who now live in the German city of Hanover. The exhibited works range from large-scale panoramas to staged scenes and classic documentary portraits – whereby Moradi’s orchestrated images are directly based on his protagonist’s personal experiences.

Sometimes surreal and often reminiscent of movie stills, Moradi’s photographs challenge the viewer to consciously study every scene, to contemplate what preceded it and what might happen next. At the same time, his visual choreography holds the key to understanding the content of each image, and the stories of those who have arrived and built their lives in a new homeland.
