The exhibition ‘Vom Aufhören und Weitermachen’ (Of Completion and Continuation) with works by Rolf Nobel and students of photojournalism and documentary photography is showing at the Galerie für Fotografie (GAF) in Hanover from May 18 to June 26, 2016.

In the year 2000, Rolf Nobel became a professor at Hanover University, where he paved the way for a study programme with a nationwide unique focus on photojournalism and documentary photography. This summer, he will leave his position in order to retire. In his 16 years at the university, what was once a course in photography under the umbrella of Visual Communications studies has emerged as one of the most renowned education facilities for photojournalism in the world.

These 16 years are a reason to look back, and to look forward. The exhibition encompasses 13 photographic works by current and former students along with images by Rolf Nobel, who prior to his time at Hanover University spent many years as a freelance journalist commissioned by German and international magazines.
