The best graduation projects of this year’s ‘Gute Aussichten / Good Prospects’ contest can be viewed at Hamburg’s Deichtorhallen from 12 July to 3 October 2019.
For the past 15 years, the annual contest has attracted an astoundingly broad spectrum of conceptual ideals, visual strategies and medial applications that reflect the status quo of Germany’s young photography scene. This year’s ‘Gute Aussichten’ competition drew 98 submissions by photography graduates from 40 institutions. A nine-member jury, which included the renowned photographer Elger Esser and leading publisher Gerhard Steidl, selected the following winners: Lorraine Hellwig, Patrick Knuchel, Benjamin Kummer, Steve Luxembourg, Sina Niemeyer, Malte Sänger, Robert ter Horst, and Anna Tiessen.
