Gordon Parks (1912–2006) – who famously referred to his camera as his ‘weapon of choice’ – was renowned for his documentation of American culture and everyday life, with a core focus on social injustice. In 1948, he began his two-decade long career as a photographer for Life magazine, which yielded some of his most groundbreaking work.
