The GOAPHOTO Open-Air Festival will take place for the first time in Panaji, India, from February 25 to March 7, 2015. During the event, the capital of Goa will be focussing its attention on contemporary photography by international artists.

Each GOAPHOTO festival will be organized around a central theme. The theme for this première event is titled "The Other", and is specifically aimed at portrait photography. In addition to numerous open-air exhibitions all over town, there will be indoor exhibits, workshops, discussion groups and meetings with curators and phtographers.

The presentations include series by Cristina de Middel, Nina Röder and Meeri Koutaniemi. With her "Namibia: Re-customized, De-colonized" series, Koutaniemi is revealing the effects of German colonial policies on the people of Namibia today and on their style of clothing. Koutaniemi is currently in Bhutan with a Leica M9 from the LFI loan pool.

There will be a four day workshop on offer in collaboration with the Magnum Photos Agency.
