One year after the G20 summit took place in Hamburg in July 2017, Gudberg & Nerger Publishers release the photo book ‘Tage im Juli’ – featuring photographs by Daniel Nide, Helena Lea Manhartsberger, Jan Richard Heinicke, Leon Küchler, Malte Dörge and Taro Tatura.

Spanning over 230 pages, the volume presents the six young photographers’ work: analogue and digital, monochrome and in colour, shot close-up and from a distance. Rather than serving as a definitive chronicle of the event, which brings together the heads of the world’s leading governments and states, ‘Tage im Juli’ goes beyond the usual press and media scenes by also including some of the small, unusual and even absurd moments that took place during the international event.

The images are complemented by numerous interviews with a wide spectrum of people involved in the event – offering fascinating insights into not only the summit, but also the accompanying protests and general atmosphere within the city. Hamburg’s deputy mayor, Katharina Fegebank, the spokesman for the Hamburg Police, Timo Zill, and Halil Simsek from the Communist group ‘Roter Aufbau Hamburg’ are among those sharing their thoughts and personal experiences of the G20 summit 2017.
