Photographic experiments

The DZ Bank Art Collection in Frankfurt/Main has placed analogue technology at the heart of its latest exhibition: 'Zurück in die Zukunft der Fotografi'e, which runs to August 27, 2016.
The latest DZ Bank Art Collection exhibition, 'Zurück in die Zukunft der Fotografie' (Back to the Future of Photography), on display at the Art Foyer in Frankfurt/Main from June 8 to August 27, 2016, presents around 60 pieces by 15 international artists who experiment with analogue technology and chemical processes in photography, producing what are frequently one-of-a-kind pieces.

The works on display reveal a enormous diversity of techniques and approaches that have contributed towards the on-going development of artistic photography. The experiments range from camera-less photography, the stimulation of the colour spectrum through the use of filters, and the interruption of the development process, to the spreading of developer liquids with a paintbrush in the darkroom. The show presents the diversity of techniques in different art-historical genres and four thematic areas: Abstraction, Landscape, Portrait and The Camera as a Room.

The artists whose works are represented are: Darren Almond, Dieter Appelt, Jeff Cowen, Alexander Endrullat, Torben Eskerod, Raphael Hefti, Karl Martin Holzhäuser, Timo Kahlen, Jürgen Klauke, Astrid Klein, Maix Mayer, Floris M. Neusüss, Helena Petersen, Barbara Probst, Thomas Ruff, Katharina Sieverding and Susa Templin.
