The exhibition ‘Fragments of War – Pictures from Ukraine’ continues at the Willy-Brandt-Haus in Berlin until August 21, 2022.
The group exhibition ‘Fragments of War – Pictures from Ukraine’, which was curated by Andy Heller and Mirja Linnekugel, continues at the Willy-Brandt-Haus in Berlin until August 21, 2022. At the beginning of the war, Johanna-Maria Fritz (who works with a Leica), Helena Lea Manhartsberger and Laila Sieber made their way to Ukraine to document the unimaginable: a military invasion in Europe – an attack on democracy.

In their images, the three photographers show fragments of these unfathomable events, by offering glimpses into the individual fates of those on the ground, and depicting their current environments and surroundings. Their primary aim was to convey the personal experiences and circumstances of those they portrayed, and share the moments they captured over the past weeks and months as emblematic examples of the tragedies and suffering caused by this war.
