New Beginnings: Pictures of Germany

September 29, 2015

From 1 October 2015 to 10 January 2016, the Fellbach City Gallery presents a selection of photographs from the Fricke Collection.
Over the course of more than forty years, Dr. Christiane and Karsten Fricke have collected the work of around 120 leading photographers. At the heart of the collection is reportage photography from the 1940s to 1990s, with a main focus on Germany's post-war era. A selection of approximately 80 original prints from the collection will now be showing at the Fellbach City Gallery, presented by the Cultural Department of Fellbach in collaboration with the Suermondt Ludwig Museum in Aachen.

A total of 32 photographers are represented in the exhibition, among them famous West-German Leica photographers such as Robert Lebeck, René Burri and Barbara Klemm, as well as photographers from the former GDR such as Sibylle Bergemann and Arno Fischer. The exhibition also includes the work of younger artists, whose images offer a new take on the theme of 'Germany'.
