A selection of the Magnum photographer’s work is currently showing at the Galerie der Stadt Fellbach (Germany). The exhibition, titled ‘Photographs from Greece’, continues until 10 September 2017.
As part of this year’s European Cultural Heritage event, the Fellbach City Museum presents an exhibition of photographs by Magnum and Leica photographer Nikos Economopoulos, titled Photographs from Greece.

Economopoulos (born 1953) studied Law in Parma and pursued journalism before dedicating himself entirely to photography. In 1994, he became a full member of the Magnum Photos agency. His creative approach is based on a desire to show images that transcend any ideologies. He applied this in his photographs of Turkey, where at that time he felt very much at home, as well as his repeated documentation of the situation in the Balkans.

He has also captured his homeland of Greece in the course of several long-term projects – creating mesmerising portraits of marginalised groups such as the country’s gypsy population, mine workers, and immigrant refugees illegally crossing the Albanian-Greek border.

The exhibition continues at the Fellbach City Gallery until 10 September 2017.
