Magnum photographer Susan Meiselas has been selected as the winner of the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize 2019, receiving 30,000 British Pounds. The awards ceremony took place at the Photographers’ Gallery in London on 16 May 2019. Meiselas was one of four artists shortlisted for the prestigious prize this year.
‘The Cube’ exhibition space at the Deutsche Börse headquarters in Eschborn/Frankfurt now presents all shortlisted works in a finalists’ exhibition. Along with Meiselas’ winning project ‘Mediations’ (comprising images from the 1970s to today), the showcase features Laia Abril’s visual investigation ‘On Abortion’, Arwed Messmer’s reportage on Germany’s far-left Red Army Faction, and Mark Ruwedel’s long-term series on landscapes marked by geological, historical and political events. The opening will take place on 13 June 2019.
