Submissions for the E1|R1 Photo Award are currently accepted at www.e1r1-photoaward.eu; the deadline for submissions is 15 May 2018. The contest is open to qualified, professional photographers. Winners will be awarded prizes with a total value of around €30,000.
Professional photographers are able to enter their most outstanding cycling and hiking images created along the ‘E1’ long-distance hiking trail (leading from Norway’s North Cape to Southern Italy), or along the ‘R1’ European cycle route (from London to St. Petersburg) at www.e1r1-photoaward.eu. Submissions close on 15 May 2018. Due to a collaboration with CEWE, Europe’s largest photo book manufacturers, the competition can also be accessed via www.contest.cewe-fotobuch.de.
Participants must submit their work in the form of a series consisting of a minimum of three images. The contest is divided into four categories: Culture & Landscape, Man & Nature, Sky & Earth, and Animals & Nature. Entrants may submit no more than one series per category.
The independent jury – consisting of curator, author and university lecturer Dr. Sandra Abend, photo artist and curator Michael Dannenmann, and photographer and lecturer Eib Eibelshäuser – will determine the winners based on the criteria of concept, visual innovativeness and image composition. The overall winner will be selected from the pool of category winners – each of whom receives a prize worth €3,500, while the overall winner is awarded an additional prize to the value of €12,000.
