Born in Düsseldorf in 1945, Wenders is known above all for movies such as "Wings of Desire", "Pina", and, most recently, "Salt of the Earth", a portrait of Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado. The film-maker also recognizes that “photography is the other half of my life”. His pictures reveal lonely, at time seemingly bizarre places and landscapes, each with its own individual story.
On the occasion of the artist's 70th birthday in 2015, the Museum Kunstpalast, in collaboration with Wenders Images and the Wim Wenders Foundation, is presenting a selection of 80 large-format, analogue photographs, all taken without artificial light or a tripod. The collection ranges from early black and white photographs, to monumental landscape panoramas, and to pictures just taken last year.
