“Memory is the only paradise we can’t be expelled from.” Sven Fennema uses this quote by Jean Paul as a headline to his Habitat series. For sure, decades ago probably no one would have dreamed that such impressive constructions, as those the photographer discovered in Italia, would be abandoned.
On June 15, 2016, LUMAS Dortmund is dedicating an event to the exceptional work of Sven Fennema. Talking with Julia Scheike-Kemmann, who runs the LUMAS gallery in Dortmund, Fennema speaks of intense research work, his travel experiences in northern Italy, and the stories behind the places photographed.
The photographs will be on display at the Dortmund location until July 16, 2016, and then exhibited at other LUMAS galleries around the world.
