Share:

Contemporary photographers from Eastern European and post-Soviet states present their artistic investigations at Hamburg’s Frappant Gallery. ’Dealing with Memory’ is open from August 15 to 23, 2020.

An extraordinary group exhibition, curated by photographers Jewgeni Roppel and Maya Hristova, investigates the construction – and reconstruction – of history. In the showcase ‘Dealing with Memory’, fifteen international artists conduct a retrospective reassessment of the structures and processes that give rise to a collective cultural identity.

The participating artists are Niels Ackermann (Switzerland), Maxim Dondyuk (Ukraine), Andrii Dostliev & Lia Dostlieva (Ukraine), Blerta Hoçia (Albania), Sebastian Hopp (Germany), Mila Panić (Bosnia- Herzegovina), Rafał Milach (Poland), Monika Orpik (Poland), Valentin Sidorenko (Russia), Masha Svyatogor (Belarus), Zuzana Pustaiová (Slovakia), Anna Pylypyuk & Volodymyr Shypotilnykov (Ukraine), and Danila Tkachenko (Russia).

With photo books by Niels Ackermann, Julia Borissova, Victor & Sergey Kochetov, Rafał Milach, Jochen Raiß, Natalya Reznik and Andrejs Strokins.
