Photography at the Bauhaus

The exhibition ‘Bauhaus and Photography: New Vision in Contemporary Art’ is on view at Kunsthalle Darmstadt from September 29 to January 5, 2020.
As part of the 100 Years of Bauhaus anniversary programme, a curatorial team led by Prof. Christoph Scholz (Faculty of Design at Darmstadt University) and Prof. Christoph Schaden (Nuremberg Institute of Technology) investigates the continuing influence of the Bauhaus school’s innovative aesthetics on contemporary photography and visual art.

The exhibition juxtaposes images by Bauhaus proponents such as László Moholy-Nagy, Lucia Moholy, Man Ray, Jan Tschichold, Hedda Walther, Florence Henri, Hans Robertson and Erich Consemüller with works by contemporary artists including Thomas Ruff, Dominique Teufen, Daniel T. Braun, Wolfgang Tillmans, Doug Fogelson, Max de Esteban, Viviane Sassen, Stephanie Seufert, Kris Scholz, Taiyo Onorato & Nico Krebs, Antje Hanebeck und Douglas Gordon.
