The organisers of this year's Darmstadt Days of Photography have invited French artist Georges Rousse (*1947) to produce a body of work within the German city. The project is part of the Photography Triennial RAY 2015 – a presentation of contemporary photography in 12 venues across Germany's Rhine/Main region. The city's former nuclear bomb shelter, and a historic stairwell in Darmstadt's Hessen State Museum are at the centre of these new works.
For the first time, the preparatory installations Rousse created at the Hessen State Museum will be accessible to the public. The exhibition at the Designhaus consists of the artist's "Darmstadt Photographs" along with numerous works spanning his two-decade long career.
