Anniversary edition: From 20 to 22 April 2018, the Darmstadt Days of Photography will take place for the tenth time. This year, the international festival revolves around the topic of Perspectives – Strategies of Photographic Actions.
The purpose of this ambitious theme is to explore the essential core of photography. Why does the medium, in its many facets, continue to hold such fascination for ever-new generations of artists? Photography can be used to create works that convey stories about life, elicit feelings, offer a rational analysis or present a complex concept. In the course of the event’s anniversary edition, 55 contemporary artists will present their ‘perspectives’ at 12 venues throughout Darmstadt, ranging from the Künstlerkolonie Museum to the Kunsthalle exhibition space. Visitors can also look forward to numerous workshops, guided tours, a symposium, an Artists’ Dinner event, and the awards ceremony for the Merck prize – offering plenty of opportunity to network and socialise with artists, organisers and experts alike.
