Josef Koudelka in Danzig

May 10, 2018

The European Solidarity Centre in Danzig is presenting the ‘Josef Koudelka. Invasion. Prague 68’ exhibition of works by the Magnum photographer, up until May 27, 2018.
In collaboration with the French Institute in Warsaw, Magnum Photos and the Aperture Foundation, the European Solidarity Centre in Danzig is presenting the exhibition Josef Koudelka. Invasion. Prague 68 of works by the Magnum photographer. It runs until May 27, 2018.

On display are photographs and multi-media contributions by the Czech Magnum photographer who, in August 1968, spent a week documenting the invasion of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact troops. After smuggling the negatives out of the country, the photo reportage appeared in 1969 in numerous foreign magazines, marking the first anniversary of the invasion.

The exhibition is part of the Przełomy ’68 [Upheavals ’68] programme and will be accompanied by a workshop titled When Josef returned to Prague.
