From 2 June to 18 November 2018, the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin presents the exhibition Between Art & Fashion. Photographs from the Collection of Carla Sozzani.

Carla Sozzani, former editor-in-chief of Italian Elle and Vogue, has been collecting photographs over very many years. Since 1990, she has also collaborated with hundreds of acclaimed artists to showcase their work at her own gallery in Milan. Helmut Newton counted among Sozzani’s close friends – making it all the more fitting that excerpts of her remarkable collection are now on show at the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin.

The exhibition comprises over 200 works from Sozzani’s vast collection. Some artists are represented with a single image only, others with a small assortment of works. The selection is not designed as an exhaustive survey, but aims to give a sense of the quality, authenticity and autonomy of the displayed images.

Following presentations in Paris and Switzerland, the showcase has now been thematically adapted to this specific venue, with a core focus on Carla Sozzani’s collaborations with Paolo Roversi, Sarah Moon, Bruce Weber and Helmut Newton.
