The ones and the others

The exhibition “The ones and the others” shows the third masterclass of the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie from March 2nd until March 11th 2018. It dislpays an inventory of the intensive examination of its own imagery and content-based topics in the Kunstquartier Bethanien.
For more than one and a half years, graduates of visual study programs within the postgraduate class of Prof. Ute Mahler and Ingo Taubhorn have devoted themselves to free documentary and artistic work.
"The ones and the others" is not only symptomatic of the dynamics of a group exhibition, but includes the leitmotifs of the 14 photographic positions. The ones stands here for the personal, often biographical individual, the others for the foreign. The stranger, which finds itself in other cultures, new living environments, the current refugee crisis, migration, new media, scary power apparatuses, uncanny experiences, alternative attitudes to life or even in direct contact.
