The Projektraum | PhotoWerkBerlin presents the exhibition 'Anna & Eve' by Viktoria Sorochinski, open from 12 April to 26 June 2016.
Over the course of seven years, Sorochinski accompanied three-year old Eve and her mother, twenty-three-year old Anna, observing and documenting their relationship. Both mother and daughter are Russians now living in Montreal. In elaborately staged photographs, Sorochinski captured the stages of Eve’s evolution and their mother-daughter relationship. The narrative revolves around themes of childhood with its fantasies and fears, as well as the learning process of motherhood.
Viktoria Sorochinski left Russia together with her parents in 1990, aged 11. She lived and studied in Israel, continuing her fine-arts education first in Montreal, then in New York where she acquired her masters degree.
The exhibition is complemented by an Artist Talk with the photographer on 1 May 2016, starting at 12:00.
