“A portrait is more than just a representation of a face. It is an encounter, a challenge, an invitation, a reflection of society, a survey of the body, an interplay with the personality, a dialogue, a riddle, a glimpse into the soul or a connection eye to eye.”

This is the motto defining a portrait competition being launched by PhotoWerkBerlin. Submissions can be made in the following categories:

- The natural glance
- The staged portrait
- The classic black and white portrait
- Portrait and location

The winner in each category will be selected by an international jury (made up the Leica photographers Thorsten von Overgaard and Donata Wenders, as well as the Creative Director of EyeEm, Gen Sadakane), and will produced by Recom-Art as part of a curated, group exhibition at the Projektraum | PhotoWerkBerlin in November 2015.

The deadline for submissions is September 15, 2015.
