This year’s Berlin Photo Week takes place from August 26 to September 3, 2021, at Haubentaucher & Cassiopeia (located in the R.A.W. Area in Berlin-Friedrichshain) and several other exciting venues.
In collaboration with leading imaging brands (including Leica Camera AG), as well as numerous other partners with a passion for photography, the organisers of Berlin Photo Week have developed an innovative event concept which combines photography and video art with news and innovations from the imaging industry. From August 26 to September 3, 2021, Berlin Photo Week offers new impulses and creative inspiration – with a rich programme of high-end exhibitions, lectures, workshops and networking opportunities. As well as introducing the latest additions to their world-renowned camera lines, Leica will present two exhibitions curated specifically for Berlin Photo Week.
‘Claim the City’
… is the motto that guides the festival’s high-profile exhibitions and events. The distinguished Grisebach auction house, for example, dedicates a special exhibition to the oeuvre of George Hoyningen-Huene (1900–1968) – one of the most groundbreaking photographers of his time, with an unparalleled ability to combine cinema and fashion with fine art.
Jacob Felländer – known for his abstract, multiple-exposure cityscapes, as well as his pioneering work in the field of virtual reality – has created an outdoor exhibition at the Haubentaucher event space in the city’s famous R.A.W. Area. Another highlight is the exhibition ‘Heinz Hajek-Halke: Experiment’, open at the Chaussee 36 cultural centre, which provides insight into the artist’s multi-faceted, unconventional and experimental oeuvre. A talk by Stefanie Seufert and Thomas Albdorf on the topic of experimental photography takes place in the same venue on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at 12:00.
