Running until October 18, 2016, the Kühlhaus Berlin is exhibiting the final year projects by students of the Ostkreuzschule School of Photography. The series produced by the graduating classes of Ute Mahler, Werner Mahler and Thomas Sandberg deal with questions of identity, transience, human impact on the environment, farewell and new beginnings.

The works by the 26 graduates cover documentary, journalistic and artistic photography. Among the young photographers is Klaus Richter, whose Cikória series of atmospheric images is dedicated to a Roma settlement in Hungary, while Stefanie Kulisch’s Flughafensee (Airport Lake) series captures the micro-cosmos of a swimming lake near Berlin’s Tegel Airport. In contrast, Dorian Wunderlich’s graduation series, Drüben auf dieser Seite (Over on that Side), in which he searches for traces of the World War and its consequences in the German-Polish border region, is both artistic and surreal.

The exhibition, that is being held within the framework of the European Month of Photography in Berlin, is accompanied by a side programme of presentations and lectures. You can find further information at: www.fotografie-in.berlin. You can find an overview of the graduation series at: oks-lab.ostkreuzschule.de.
