On 21 October 2016, Berlin’s Robert Morat Gallery will be hosting an artist talk with Jessica Backhaus. The event takes place within the context of the photographer’s exhibition ‘Six Degrees of Freedom’, currently showing at the gallery until 19 November 2016.
The images on display once again illustrate the photographer’s strong sense for the melancholy of everyday reality, and the emotive power of colour and light. Backhaus describes the project as her most personal to date: “It is about my own roots and memories. The series assembles visual associations, reflections and fragments from my own past. Yet at the same time, it represents a very universal search for the key to your own identity.”
