Image Maker presents exemplary works by Guy Bourdin from various publication contexts – including his iconic as well as lesser-known advertising images for Charles Jourdan shoes.
Helmut Newton’s A Gun for Hire mainly showcases commissioned works created for fashion designers in the 1990s. Though they were initially featured in the labels’ fashion publications, some of the images were later also incorporated into the photographer’s artistic oeuvre. Newton’s imagery was never confined to creating a fashion piece, but always had a surprising story woven into it as well.
The Foundation’s small and intimate ‘June’s Room’ is specifically dedicated to friends and companions of Helmut and June Newton. This time, it will contain a showcase of photographs by Newton’s former assistant, Angelo Marino, titled Another Story. On his train commute from Cannes to his workplace in Monte Carlo, Marino captured fellow travellers, buildings, landscapes and the sea with his iPhone – creating snapshot-like portraits that culminate in a unique view of his immediate surroundings.
