Joel Meyerowitz

With the showcase ‘Why color?’, the C/O Berlin dedicates a retrospective exhibition to the work of Joel Meyerowitz, who was honoured with the Leica Hall of Fame Award in early 2017. It is the first exhibition within Germany to present the photographer’s vintage colour prints as well as encompass all of his most significant creative periods, spanning from the sixties to today.

Joel Meyerowitz counts as one of the leading pioneers of New Color Photography. Originally a classically trained painter, he has a particular gift for capturing the surprising and curious moments of everyday life. Whether on the streets of France, Italy, Greece, Hungary or Morocco – for Meyerowitz, the world has always been a colourful playground for his creativity, as well as a treasure-trove beyond his wildest dreams.
