Using conceptual and documentary approaches, David Copeland explores internal states of mind that veer between darkness and light – and the physical and psychological boundaries that can keep us there. His images speak of familiarity and distance, light and shadow, the beautiful in the banal.
David Copeland, who is based in Northern Ireland, holds a first-class hons degree in Photography from Ulster University (2017) where he also completed his MFA in Photography, graduating with distinction in 2020. He recently received the Belfast Exposed Futures Award, which supports promising new talent through workshops and mentorship programmes.
