Belfast Exposed highlights the topics of perception and exclusion in a new showcase, open from November 25 to December 23, 2021.
‘We, Us, Them’ is a collaborative artist residency and exhibition programme between Belfast Exposed Photography in Northern Ireland, and the Centre of Contemporary Photography in Melbourne. Within this context, four Australian artists will be showcasing their work alongside Northern Ireland still photographer, Helen Sloan.
‘We, Us, Them’ is intended to give participating artists a platform to reflect on questions of identity, history, and what it means to be rooted in an ethnic or social community.
The collaborative project will juxtapose works by Julie Rrap, Raphaela Rosella, Anu Kumar and Cate Consandine – who explore topics such as the sovereignty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples – with Helen Sloan’s documentation of the Irish Traveller community.
The current, introductory exhibition comprises a series by Raphaela Rosella and a three-channel video installation by Cate Consandine.
