Bayeux Award for War Correspondents 2020

October 5, 2020

From October 5 to 11, 2020 the town of Bayeux in Normandy is centred around this year’s Bayeux Award for War Correspondents – with a rich programme of exhibitions, film screenings and debates.
For over 20 years the town of Bayeux, in association with the Calvados Department, the Normandy region and its partners, has been hosting a unique event dedicated to an extraordinary group of people: war correspondents. For the week from October 5 to 11, 2020, the town will once again be transformed into a large-scale newsroom, featuring reports by some 350 journalists from around the globe. Leading figures from the world’s most important news organisations join forces with top photographers and reporters in a bid to select the most outstanding works – and to pay tribute to colleagues who lost their lives in the line of duty.

In addition to the award ceremony, the programme includes panel discussions, a book fair, documentary film screenings, the unveiling of a memorial stone at the Reporters’ Memorial, as well as five new exhibitions. Among them is the showcase ‘Imagine: Reflection on Peace’, curated especially for this event by last year’s jury president and co-founder of the VII Photo Agency, Gary Knight.
