The long-term project On Democracy by photographers Kai Loges and Andreas Langen is currently showing at the Neue Galerie im Höhmannhaus in Augsburg. The exhibition continues until 25 September 2016.
Stuttgart-based photographers Kai Loges and Andreas Langen, who collaborate under the name of die arge lola, have been observing the democratic process for years – a phenomenon that moves between uneventful routine and dramatic junctures: assembling party lists, bestowing badges of honour, election campaigns, talk-shows, arson attacks. Their images are documentary in nature, but differ significantly from conventional photojournalism. What sets them apart is their focus on the apparent trivialities of political life, beyond the usual news headlines.
