Leica have introduced a red-anodised version of the APO-Summicron-M 50 mm f/2 Asph.
The Leica APO-Summicron-M 50 mm f/2 Asph is now available in a brand-new look. The standard lens is the first Leica lens to be offered in a red-anodised finish. This version will be available from December 2016, in a very limited edition of 100 units.

The APO-Summicron-M 50 mm f/2 is considered a benchmark product among standard focal length lenses. It is distinguished by an outstanding imaging performance, extremely sharp fine-detail reproduction as well as high contrast rendition across the entire image, even at maximum aperture. A floating element ensures that this level of excellence is also largely maintained at close shooting distances.

The lens’s exceptional optical performance is achieved with a total of eight lens elements – including three made from glass types with high anomalous partial dispersion, and two with a particularly high refractive index. All glass types have been formulated based on original developments from the former Leitz glass laboratory – requiring extensive effort and years of experience. Thanks to the continuous advancements in the field of optical technology, the processes involved have been refined and perfected to achieve the best possible image quality.

As with all Leica lenses, the Leica APO-Summicron-M 50 mm f/2 Asph was developed by Leica’s optics specialists in Wetzlar, and represents the perfect combination of optical and technical expertise. As a particularly reliable product with enduring value and the ‘Made in Germany’ quality seal, the lens has been manufactured from the finest materials and assembled entirely by hand in an elaborate process.
