Award for courageous reporting

January 31, 2016

The Anja Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism Award will be granted once again this year. Submissions can be made up until February 12, 2016.
Up until February 12, 2016, female journalists, who are known for their exceptional courage and stamina, can nominate themselves or be nominated by a third party to the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF). The award honours female photographers whose work is in line with the tradition of the reporter Anja Niedringhaus.

About the photographer
Pulitzer Prize-winner Anja Niedringhaus (1965–2014) began reporting in the nineties from various crisis regions in the Balkans as well as the Middle East. For her on-going commitment to documenting the dimensions of armed conflict and its consequences on the people affected, the IWMF granted Niedringhaus the Courage in Journalism Award in 2005. She was assassinated while covering the Afghan Presidential elections in 2014.
