Huis Marseille in Amsterdam presents eight artistic approaches to explore the role of social media in contemporary photography. Open from November 28, 2020 to February 28, 2021.
With ‘Infinite Identities. Photography in the Age of Sharing’, Huis Marseille explores the ways in which eight visual artists and photographers use Instagram to develop and share their work. The result is a vivid illustration of how digital platforms can complement the art world’s physical spaces, such as studios, galleries and museums.
At the same time, the show itself is an embodiment of its core theme: due to the pandemic, the entire exhibition was organised exclusively via online media. Which also poses the question: how profoundly is the internet transforming long-standing museal processes?
